Dori Amarilio
Composer / Arranger / Producer / Recording Studio
Dori’s combination of outstanding musicianship and years of studio work have established him as a sought-after composer, producer and arranger in the film, television and game industry. And years of performing with top musicians in the Los Angeles jazz scene have firmly established Dori as a versatile guitarist specializing in jazz and Brazilian music.
Dori’s diverse and award-winning portfolio features a wide range of projects, including working with legendary songwriter Mike Stoller on the album Amazon Moon, composing for Oscar-winning director Charles Jarot, scoring a national Pontiac commercial, composing cross-cultural music for theater, composing cutting edge television music, and producing orchestral soundtracks for major game titles featuring orchestras based in Hollywood, Seattle and various European cities.
All of this is no surprise. Dori was born into music. The son of a classically trained violinist and award-winning composer, Dori was exposed to music from day one. He studied guitar at age nine, played professionally at 14, composed music at 16 and was a music director by age 17. Dori studied composition at Israel’s Rimon School of Music (closely affiliated with Berklee), the Hollywood Musician’s Institute and the UCLA film scoring program.
Dori landed in Los Angeles shortly after a three-month stint as musical director of a tour that played every major city in South America. He quickly established himself as one of the essential go-to guitarists in the Los Angeles jazz scene, and went on to build two recording studios as he forged a successful career as a composer, scorer, mixer and producer.
