Emmy Award Winning Composer- Conductor, Michele Josia combines his academic knowledge of orchestration, composition, human voice and choirs with today’s new technology of digital instruments, which perfectly match visual images. Michele's work encompasses film soundtracks, choral and orchestral works, and, far more than merely a composer, he's also a well-known choir conductor with more than 190 concerts conducted in some of the most important concert halls in Europe.
Among Josia’s works in collaboration, as choir conductor assistant, with Ennio Morricone and Marco Frisina in the preparation of the soundtracks of films such as “Vatel”, "Aida of the Trees", "Padre Pio - between Heaven and Earth", “La Piovra 10” and “Joseph of Nazareth”. Michele’s music was performed by the renowned American composer, conductor, and Grammy Award winner Eric Whitacre, coauthor together with Hans Zimmer of the music of the blockbuster film "The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".
As a film composer, conductor, and assistant conductor, Josia recorded 22 CDs and he is the recipient of 34 music awards as conductor and composer of concert music and 43 film industry awards, including an Emmy Award, several Global Music Awards and the World Entertainment Awards in 2024. Michele has composed music for feature films produced by RAI Sat, RAI Trade, RAI Cinema, and documentaries starring Nanni Moretti, Piergiorgio Bellocchio, David Bush, Mathieu Amalric, Pitof, and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, to name a few.
Josia is mostly known for his score of "The Haunting of Helena" produced by OneMore Pictures and RAI Cinema, "III Smoking Barrels", “I Racconti della Domenica”, starring Nino Frassica, “Gate to Heaven”, starring Richard Sammel (3 Days to Kill, The Strain, 007 Casino Royale, Inglorious Basterds), “Joachim and the Apocalypse”, starring Nikolay Moss and Francesco Turbanti. Michele’s films have been screened in dozens of International Film Festivals worldwide including the Festival de Cannes.
Josia's soundtracks has been produced by Warner Chappell and Ala Bianca Group. Michele Josia is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy), the China International Film Music Society, the Italian Film Music Composers Association, former member of the Italian Film Academy for the David di Donatello Awards (Italian equivalent of the Oscar 2009-2019) and current member of the European Film Academy for the European Film Awards (EFA).
